This short informative video provides interesting facts of Yellowstone National Park!
The requirements for this project inspired me to create a video that focused on Yellowstone National park. Over the past summer, my family took a long road trip in our travel trailer to the West Coast, spanning over 30 days. One stop on our travels was at Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Tetons in Wyoming. I chose this inspiration to generate an informational video highlighting insteresting facts and high-resolution images (as well as a brief video I filmed) of the unique geological formations, landscapes, and wildlife. This project was fun to create and has many possiblities for educational usage, whether purely informational to augment curriculum or be direct content that allows students to gain knowledge or prompt analysis.
Here is an overview of the design and production steps for creating this informational video. To start, I focused on pulling images from various popular geological features and lanscapes that Yellowstone is known for, which were sites we visitied when we were there. I used iMovie as the sole production media to create the video, with minor external help from Microsoft PowerPoint, to consolidate the various animal images into one building image. Each image was saved to a folder on my computer desktop first, then uploaded directly into iMovie for inclusion into the video. After organizing the images and video in iMovie, I began inserting the introduction, titles and text within the images, transitions, and final credits. This technique gave the video structure and extra information about each image. In addition, I added a personal video taken at Old Faithful Geyser on our trip to add realism to the informational message. For the end credits, I added four photos of our trip. These photos were inserted as Picture-in-Picture and appeared separately as the credits rolled.
